Calderwood specialises in advising in relation to distressed funds and special situations. Our directors have successfully navigated numerous distressed engagements to the ultimate benefit of a company and its stakeholders. While we principally focus on investment funds, our directors have accepted fiduciary roles in numerous industries, including shipping, insurance, manufacturing and real estate, at various levels of the structure, including holding and operating companies.
In 2023 Calderwood expanded in this area, appointing former UK barrister and regulatory disputes expert Clare Price as an Independent Director. Clare was a barrister in England for 28-years, focused on dispute resolution through litigation and negotiation, specialising in high value professional liability claims and regulatory matters. She advises on a select portfolio of investment funds and other corporate entities, taking board appointments on Cayman Islands vehicles and other jurisdictions as circumstances require.
Clare’s participation in the IWIRC began when she joined Calderwood in 2023. The firm had previously been a sponsor in 2021 and 2022 and the entire team is delighted to be supporting the success of women in the insolvency and restructuring profession in the Cayman Islands through their sponsorship of IWIRC again this year.
